Steven is a 4th year Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology/ Biomedical Research Minor from the Firefly class. He joined TEACH in his second year for a breath of fresh air and to share some of the tips and knowledge he has with the students. TEACH has given him new bonds and connections and he is grateful to be able to have a chance to provide kids with the skills to live in today's rapidly evolving world. He is planning to pursue a career in Cardiac Surgery.
Khyla is a 4th year Physiological Science Major and Global Health Minor from the Firefly class. She is an aspiring physician who joined TEACH in order to develop meaningful connections and make some impact on the lives of kids who she sees her younger brothers in. She also enjoys being someone who the kids can trust, but also someone they can play a friendly game of tag or computer games with every now and then.
Jonathan is a 3rd year Biology major from the Goat class. He joined TEACH about two years ago and has loved every part of the program. He especially values mentoring the students and being a part of their physical, academic, and mental growth.
Brian is a 3rd year Human Biology and Society Major and Public Health Minor from the Goat class. Brian joined TEACH in order to be a part of a community that was similar to his growing up. His most impactful memory at TEACH was getting to be around the kids and upper-class man as he has learned a lot through these conversations with them.
Soumya is a third year Psychobiology Major from the Goat class. Being a site coordinator has offered me the opportunity to extend my volunteerism past the confines of my physical community by creating an avenue for sustainable youth empowerment. By gaining insight in public healthcare and its relative flaws in addressing health disparities, my personal commitment towards empowerment and youth advocacy has greatly grown through this amazing organization!
Kate is a 3rd year Human Biology and Society Major and Disability Studies Minor from the Goat class. This year, she is so excited to be a site coordinator for TEACH so that she can spend more time interacting with the kiddos! Kate joined TEACH because she really likes working with kids and values the way that the kids light up when they learn something new. She really looks forward to site every week.
Rebecca is a recent graduate from the Beluga class with a BS in Neuroscience and a Minor in Global Health. Every week the thing that Rebecca looks forward to the most is going to site. Site is not just helping the kids with their homework, but is anywhere from talking about soccer to hearing about their day to drawing competitions. Joining TEACH her freshman year helped Rebecca find a place at UCLA, and because of TEACH she has been able to meet so many amazing people. Through this organization, Rebecca has learned so much about healthcare and have discovered her love for public health.
Sheila is a recent graduate from the Corgi class with a BS in MCDB and a Minor in Society and Genetics. Her most impactful memory with TEACH was when she planned the Winter 2020 Field Trip at UCLA for the kids! She was so happy to see how excited and competitive the kids were during the field day activities. She loves TEACH because it allows her to work with the wonderful kids and made her switch career paths into public health!
Peter is a Pre-med fourth year Biology Major from the Emu class. Teach has left a great impact on him, as he has fostered a developing bond with the kids he works with. His favorite part of TEACH is seeing the kids’ personal growth over time.
